Happy Halloween, and Oh, BTW...

I must say it's tough having to be at school on Halloween and not being able to dress up, but we did a great job of it today. I miss the days of the storybook character parades we had in another school, and some classes did dress up for things like book reports; however, just the mention of the word "Halloween" sent my kindies into crazed fits of laughter and anticipation--our local trick-or-treating was scheduled for tonight, and they were SO excited! I'm thinking they'll have lovely breakfasts of candy treats and maybe a few more stashed in lunch boxes and backpacks (just in case--there could be some sort of emergency requiring chocolate or other sweetness) and I'm wondering whether one or two will have mysterious tummy aches (couldn't be the candy--must be the school's water or something). Tomorrow is a holiday here in Germany for the locals, but not for us. All the costumed German children will be able to sleep off their sugar tomorrow while we are in school as usual. Happy Halloween!

Just Keep Swimming!

I can see that keeping up with this blog will be a challenge for me. Perhaps when I learn to post pictures and do some other cool stuff I'll be more inspired. Kudos to those dedicated bloggers who manage to update regularly, share their awesome ideas and materials, and just keep swimming!

A Lot to Learn

The more blogs I see, the more I see that I have a lot to learn! I have been finding amazing materials thanks to the blogs I follow--one of these days I will learn how to share them here! For now I just need to try to keep posting, even just a little bit--I need to get in the habit of adding to my little slice of the "blogosphere" and not let it fall by the wayside!

Never a Dull Moment!

We didn't have school on Columbus Day, so it's one of those weeks when I feel like I'm trying to catch up to something I can't quite identify. Tuesday was my new teaching assistant's first official day at work, today we found out we're getting a new student next Monday, and at the faculty meeting after school I was told I'll be in training all day Monday for a new reading assessment! I'm not complaining--I love my job, my class totally rocks, and my new assistant is awesome! It's just one of those days when I feel like a dog chasing its tail. Fortunately, there are some AMAZING and GENEROUS people out there who are willing to share their brilliant teaching ideas and materials--take a moment to check some of the blogs I follow and I guarantee you'll find some treasures!

Starting Something New

I've decided it's time to start my own blog. After spending a few months stalking some really awesome blogs, I figured I might as well see what it's like from the other side of the screen. It's going to take some time (since I really have no idea what I'm doing just yet), but I hope it will be a worthwhile endeavor. Here's hoping!
