BTS already?!

Oh, my! The last time I posted it was nearly summer, and now it's very nearly time to go back to school? It's true--time really DOES fly, especially the older I get! But that's OK, it's all good! I have been having crazy fun indulging in my blog-stalking habit (not my fault--there's GREAT stuff out there in the blogosphere!) and ordering new classroom materials (who doesn't love that?) as well as taking a five-week trip to the US. Highlights of my summer include, but are not limited to:

--Spending quality time with my wonderful husband and our amazing grown-up daughters (who will always be my babies!)

--Visiting with family and friends I don't get to see often enough, and meeting some new ones!

--Taking a scenic tour of several states as we drove from PA to TX and back again!

--Attending Frog Street Splash in Dallas, TX--my first time, and it was AWESOME!!

It's been 13 years this month since we moved to Germany and we still love living here, but there's no place like the great USA and it's always fantastic to go back! Ah, iced tea and free refills--I miss you, my friends! But back to reality...and back to school!

I am very excited to meet the new kindergartners! I've been busy prepping materials and planning! I always have the goal of being more organized (and it always ends up looking like chaos to the untrained eye, but I'm getting there) and I have lots of things to help me this year thanks to all the awesome bloggers out there. What blogs do you follow? If I added all of them to my list it would take all day (and people might think I'm just a little blog-crazy, which I might be), but I'm always on the lookout for great blogs.

I should get back to my BTS prep for now, but I am really going to work on this little blog! One thing I plan to accomplish is to find a blog designer to customize my design. I have to talent for such things, but I know what I want so I'm sure I can find someone who can help me out. Can anyone recommend a great custom blog designer?

Almost Summer? Already?

It's almost summer! Yay! Yikes, there is so much to do! I have really let this poor little blog go by the wayside, but I am working on making a more concerted effort to stick with it. I am starting by recognizing that I am out of my comfort zone and therefore must take steps to get myself on the ball! I am very excited to be attending Frog Street Splash this summer in Texas--I am already signed up for a blogging session that will hopefully spark my creativity! I hope to have time this summer to take some blogging classes online, too--I am going to try to keep going. Meanwhile I will continue my blog-stalking for great ideas and inspiration. If you haven't checked out the super blogs out there, you are really missing something awesome! Start with some of the ones on this blog and jump right in--I hope to add lots more soon, but I have to go back again and figure out how I did that before...I'll get there!!

Lifetime Learning!

It's true--we never stop learning! I'm learning something new every day with my kindergartners, taking two grad courses, and now I'm considering blog school. I've been looking at it for awhile now, but trying to figure out if I can actually fit it into my schedule. When will I have time to stalk other people's blogs if I am working on my own?? Hmmm, decisions, decisions...! Lots of bloggers are recommending Charity Preston's Teaching Blog Traffic School, and I'm thinking it might be a good idea. What do you think? http://teachingblogtrafficschool.com

Busy, busy, busy!!

It's been a busy time for me as we prepare to wrap up the second quarter of this school year. Time is just flying by me, and sometimes it seems like I'm going in circles! I'm taking a great professional development course on Developmentally Appropriate Practices (I'm a big fan!), and last week saw the arrival of my third teaching assistant this school year (through no fault of my own--people in the military move a lot). My new educational aide (official title here) is also a certified teacher. She's used to working with bigger kids (most recently fifth grade) so kindergarten is going to be an adjustment for her. Working with another teacher is going to be an adjustment for both of us. Has anyone else been through a similar experience? Meanwhile, back to thinking about those report card comments...

...and still waiting for inspiration to strike!

Now that we're well into January I find myself still struggling with blog block. Fortunately I am able to continue with my routine blog stalking--it helps! I won't give up! The good news is that my OLW (One Little Word) finally came to me and that word is "Courage." So in the spirit of my New Year's resolution to be more courageous I will continue to try!

Happy New Year!

Here it is, the final day of 2011--I'm still having a blog block!! My New Year's resolution will be to overcome my blogging obstacles and be more dedicated to my blog rather than just stalking the fabulous blogs out there. In my defense, there are some really awesome blogs out there to stalk! Have a wonderful New Year! What are your resolutions?

So I Can Say I Did...

I'm going to post something this week, just so I can say I did it! Last week we had parent conferences and the Veterans Day holiday, which made for a two-day school week. That was interesting, but not quite as interesting (I fear) as the upcoming five-day school week that follows this five-day break for my kinders! We'll have lots of great work to do thanks to the wonderful materials available at Teachers Pay Teachers--how did I ever live without that website and the fabulously creative teachers who make such awesome materials available?? Thanks for all you do!
